President of the National Indigenous Confederation Leonidas Iza suffered an attack on his life early this week by unidentified gunmen in Quito. While Iza himself was not seriously hurt, his eldest son was critically wounded though is expected to recover. Iza, a staunch critic of the current Ecuadorian government, believes the attack was politically motivated.
