AUSTRALIA: Outrage over MP's comments on Aboriginal childcare

Ms. Carol Martin, Australia's first Aboriginal woman elected to Western Australia's Parliament, is to submit a formal complaint against a political opponent, Liberal MP Rob Johnson, for comments he made about the childcare of Aboriginal children. He believes it is unfair for Aboriginal children to be placed in the care of only Aboriginal parents. He said that Aboriginal social conditions include heavy drinking, imprisonment and instability. Ms. Martin suggested that the comment amounted to a racist attack on her.
