More than 40 police in riot gear protected contractors as they removed the burnt remains of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy. The tent embassy was burned down by a suspected arson attack in June and was deemed a safety hazard by the government. The police explained that their excessive show of force was a necessary precaution in case some protestors objected to the removal of the embassy.
