UGANDA: Trans-border issues on agenda

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development in East Africa is sponsoring discussions next month between delegations of members from the Ugandan and Kenyan Parliaments which will address trans-border conflict between pastoral groups in both countries. Members of the Pokot and Turkana from Kenya, Karamojong and Sabiny from Uganda, and Toposa and Didinga from Sudan will be represented at the meeting. Prolonged drought and resource scarcity has increased conflict and cattle-rustling between these groups in the last few years.
