SUDAN : Sudanese Government Violates Cease-fire in Nuba Mountains

A Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) spokesman reported a second attack by government forces since the cease-fire treaty was signed on Jan. 19. According to the report, two companies of government troops opened fire against a Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) base. Although the rebel forces allegedly did not strike back, they fear that the six-month cease-fire agreement will collapse without international monitoring.
