The government of Ecuador is planning to sell the national electricity business to private companies. In response, some 2,000 Ecuadorians, including representatives of three indigenous organizations, held a demonstration against the policy. “We don’t want the same thing to happen that happened in Argentina to Ecuador ,” said Lincoln Jara, President of the National Federation of Electrical Workers (FEDELEC).
