Support Xavante Communities in the Aftermath of Cerrado Fires

An estimated 1,800 Xavante were directly impacted by over 1,114  fires in August-October that destroyed the Xavante Indigenous Territories of Areões, São Marcos and Parabubure, in Mato Grosso, Brazil.

Xavante Warã Association is requesting financial support for emergency actions in the affected Xavante Territories. Assistance will be directed to ensure food security for families affected by the fires, to purchase food and water, medicines, and for reconstruction of food systems through the purchase of seeds, seedlings, equipment and tools.  Support will go to also equip local fire brigades and for transportation to the affected areas.
