A 81 kilómetros de la ciudad capital, en la comunidad de Patzún, Guatemala, se encuentra Radio Sinakan.  Una radio comunitaria Maya creada por líderes conscientes de que la voz de los pueblos no tenía un medio de expresión en su propio idioma y que representara las necesidades e intereses propios. 

Eighty-one kilometers from Guatemala City, in the community of Patzún, you will find Radio Sinakan, a Mayan community radio station started by community leaders who wanted to give local people a previously unavailable medium to express their voices, needs, and interests.

With a grant from Cultural Survival’s Keepers of the Earth Fund (KOEF), Sunuwar Sewa Samaj (Sunuwar Welfare Society) plans to raise awareness about the right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) in relation to hydropower generation projects being undertaken in the territories of Koĩts-Sunuwar Indigenous communities in Nepal.
