PERÚ: Territorial reserve established for native peoples

The Peruvian government has taken more than six years to define a 2 million acre territory in the Madre de dios Department, a reserve for Yora, Yine and Amahuaca indigenous peoples. The initiative comes from the Native Federation of the Madre de dios River and Tributaries (FENAMAD). The federation also achieved this week the establishment of the Amarakaeri communal reserve, covering the homelands of the Harakmbut people.
