AUSTRALIA: Indigenous drama series to be filmed in Northern Territory

After a year of fundraising, the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) will begin filming a 13-part indigenous children's drama series in the Northern Territory next year. According to the Sunday Territorian, this is the first series of its kind that will be screened on commercial television in Australia. The mini-series, entitled Double Trouble, will be written, directed, and filmed around Alice Springs. It is expected to generate large economic benefits for the Northern Territory, including $4.7 million and 58 full time jobs. Double Trouble will air nationally on Channel 9 and Disney, and will be distributed internationally by the Australian Television Foundation. It is expected to air in two years.
