As part of a larger program funding indigenous youth initiatives across New South Wales, the state has given almost $44,000 to the College of Indigenous Australian Peoples at Southern Cross University to maintain the Bundjalung language through such activities as language workshops. As all of the fluent Bundjalung speakers are elderly, the language is at risk of extinction.
