The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) is threatening to embarrass universities if they refuse to return Aboriginal remains to the appropriate indigenous communities. ATSIC claims that there are a number of universities throughout Australia that house thousands of Aboriginal bones. Names of the universities will be publicly announced unless they provide information on their collections and pledge to return them to Aboriginal groups.
