AUSTRALIA: Aboriginal languages to be taught in schools

Indigenous students in New South Wales will be able to study one of 70 Aboriginal languages this upcoming school year as a major part of their curriculum. Changes in the curriculum will include mandatory and elective courses in Aboriginal languages for students in kindergarten through 10th grade. The new program will take place in 80 schools in New South Wales. The policy is intended to allow Aboriginal students to learn more about their culture.
