WEST PAPUA: Chief appeals the Indonesian government to stop partitions and warfare

On September 8, Negro Alpius Kogoya, Chief of the Lani tribe in Mimika, released a press statement on behalf of Papuan anti-partition groups urging the Indonesian President to repeal the law concerning the partition of Irian Jaya Province (Papua) into three separate provinces.
