TIBET: Tibetan nomads’ livestock and livelihood in danger

The nomads from Golog and Yushul “Tibet Autonomous Prefecture” (“TAP”) are seeking help from the Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) to stop the Chinese government’s conversion of nomadic lands into protected grassland. The government is currently acting on an April 16 ruling allowing limits on livestock and the relocation of over 27,000 nomadic people in an effort to control the grasslands. The TCHRD considers this policy “a measure to destroy another viable and vital part of Tibetan culture.”
