SUDAN: Self-determination unaddressed in Danforth report

Human Rights Watch has recently criticized the final report of U.S. Special Envoy John Danforth on the peace process in Sudan, arguing that the crucial issue of self-determination for southern Sudanese has been insufficiently addressed. Other criticisms arise from the Catholic Relief Services, who contend that the role of oil exploitation and related human rights abuses were also not significantly explored in the report.
