CARE International has received nearly $1.4 million (US) from the Big Lottery
Fund for a three-year project focusing on improving the civil and political rights
of the Rwandan Batwa and women. CARE plans to reach these goals by increasing
Batwa and women's access to information about their rights, creating literacy
materials focused on these rights, and improving local organizations' abilities
to advocate on behalf of Batwa and women in Rwanda. By giving the Batwa and Rwandan
women a voice, CARE hopes to promote their inclusion and participation in Rwanda's
political system.
