RUSSIA: Opening of the Roma Holocaust Museum

On August 3, 2003 the Roma Holocaust Museum opened in Moscow, sponsored by the Sakharov International Human Rights Centre. The opening has received positive reactions from Romani media, which see it as a major step towards recognizing the Roma genocide during Nazi Germany. In addition, the Trans-European Roma Federation hopes to organize a Roma Nation Day on April 8, 2004, and will meet in London on September 16 to discuss its proposed agenda.
