QUEBEC: Cree and Inuit sign offshore agreements

In northern Quebec, the two major aboriginal nations of the Cree and Inuit have long been in negotiations with the federal government over use of the offshore areas of the Hudson Bay and James Bay. A joint agreement between the two will ease negotiations with the federal government, splitting the area into three areas, one Inuit-controlled, one Cree-controlled, and one jointly managed.
