After a series of attacks carried out by remnants of the militant Maoist group “Shining Path,” many are beginning to wonder if Peru is experiencing a resurgence of violence characteristic of their civil war. Attacks on military personnel and workers for foreign companies are rising, of which a branch of the group advocating renewed armed struggle takes credit. While many are calling this violence “resurgence,” many indigenous Peruvians insist that for them, the attacks never stopped.
