Speaking at this year’s Ogoni Day Celebration on January 4, Governor Peter Odili announced a donation of N2 billion by the Rivers State government to the four local government areas of Ogoniland, This Day reported. Odili explained that the money will be earmarked for development projects that the Ogoni choose. According to the Daily Independent, the donation serves as a guarantor of future oil exploration in Ogoniland.
