Associate Maori Affairs Minister Tariana Turia said that Georgina te Heuheu, despite her removal from the National Party, will always be considered the top Maori Affairs official and her expertise will still be sought out. Turia said that te Heuheu’s legal training and her community ties to Maori life make her the most well-trained person for the position.
