On January 22, a Human Rights Center in Chiapas reported the burning of 23 houses and the detention of citizen Joshué Jimenez Cruz in the community of Nuevo San Rafael in the Motes Azules Biosphere reserve. Local testimonies suggest 40 marine and police units remain in the community.
