Image Roots Eighth International Film and Video Festival of Indigenous Peoples will be accepting submissions through December 31, 2005. Films must be either in Spanish, or with a Spanish transcript. Submissions can be in any genre relating to economic, cultural, organizational, social, political, and creative aspects of indigenous peoples. Criteria for awards includes: promotion of indigenous dignity and respect, rights of indigenous women, strengthening indigenous culture, and the notion of development through an indigenous lens. Products promoting political parties or particular governments will not be considered.
Films featured in the Seventh International Festival, Chile 2004, are not eligible for entry or film dated prior to January 1, 2003. The eighth festival will be held in Oaxaca, Mexico, May 27 thru June 9, 2005.
