LABRADOR: Dutch air force leaves Goose Bay

The Dutch air force, which has long used Goose Bay, Canada, for training purposes, has decided to leave the area. Citing the decreasing relevance of low-altitude flying in an age of smart bombs delivered from a distance, they will instead use areas in California and possibly Florida. Three other NATO members - Germany, Italy, and the UK - will continue to use Goose Bay. The local Innu have long protested the low-altitude flights, but it appears that military considerations alone led to the Dutch air force’s decision.
