KENYA: Pokot and Turkana form a joint security force

Pastoralists from Turkana and West Pokot districts announced this week that they had formed a joint security force to address cattle rustling and violence along their common border. The decision was made at a peace meeting held in a border community; 300 youths promised to aid the government in its efforts to track down cattle rustlers. They also pledged to use traditional methods of communication to ensure future peaceful relations between the two pastoralist groups.
