The European Parliament has recently adopted new resolutions supporting the rights of indigenous peoples in Africa. The parliament announced that it will champion the demands of the Pygmies, Basarwa ‘Bushmen’, and other indigenous peoples. Because many African countries fail to recognize indigenous rights to communal lands, the European Parliament has resolved to make indigenous rights an issue when making political deals in the region.
