During an official visit to the Ecuadorian Amazon, President Lucio Gutiérrez restated his commitment to oil exploration and exploitation, hoping the generated income will benefit the entire country. Guitérrez also said that all oil projects will be sustainable to protect against damage to the environment or infringement on indigenous territory.
