Recently, 250 peasants and farmers stopped at four points the construction of the Crudos Pesados Pipeline (OCP) situated in Nueva Loja-Quito, Sucumbios. They are demanding an adjustment in the compensation for the right of the OCP to pass through their territories and for the damage that the construction of the pipeline has caused to their land and properties. These protests started a year ago and have reached a point where the operations of the construction are now paralyzed. During the last few days, clashes between the peasants, workers and the police have taken place, resulting in 11 people being detained and two injured.
