During a recent visit to Colombia, U.N. representative for indigenous rights, Rodolfo Stavenhagen, said that due to the ongoing conflict in Colombia, indigenous people are facing extinction. Stavenhagen suggested that indigenous territories be made zones of peace respected by paramilitaries and Marxist rebels.
