Occidental Petroleum (Oxy) has dropped the controversial Siriri oil project following its annual shareholder meeting. The company now plans to return the oil block in question to Colombian government ownership. The decision follows a 10-year struggle by the owners of the land -- the U’wa tribe -- and several indigenous organizations.
