COLOMBIA: Colombian refugees flee violence in Zulia for Venezuelan Bari indigenous communities

Due to intense fighting between the Colombian army, right-wing paramilitaries, and revolutionary guerilla groups in Colombia, 300 persons fled to nearby Venezuela, in the Bari indigenous Boski village. The violence came as a result of a major offensive by the Colombian army to eradicate 46,000 hectares of poppy fields. In the past, Colombian paramilitaries have entered Venezuelan territory in search of refuges with considerably violent results.
