CANADA: Sheshatshiu Innu Women's Group seeks contributions

An August 23 press release issued by the Sheshatshiu Innu Women's Group reports that financial problems have forced the organization's staff to work from their homes, as the group cannot afford to have an office. For several years, workers for the Labrador-based group have been working primarily on a “volunteer basis from its membership as well as from time to time through private financial donations, in-kind services and...very limited and irregular government grants for specific costs.” Despite these obstacles, the group's work has benefited many Innu children, women and people. The release stated that the group is seeking fund-raising suggestions and general input from the public to help it achieve its goals.
