CANADA: Aboriginal Pipeline Group receives funding for Mackenzie gas pipeline

After long negotiations with the government and private corporations, the Aboriginal Pipeline Group (APG) has secured funding from an unnamed third party for its one-third share of the proposed Mackenzie River Valley natural gas pipeline project. The pipeline may be completed by 2008, bringing natural gas to the U.S. market and, according to the APG, presenting a new model for aboriginal development that brings Native peoples and private corporations together for joint economic ventures.
