Human rights groups have condemned the Burmese military regime for ongoing atrocities against the Karen, Karenni, and Shan indigenous peoples. Extra judicial executions, rape, torture, forced relocation and labor continue to be carried out against these indigenous groups. Thousands have died as a result of Burma’s genocidal policies. The international community must put more pressure on the Burmese military to respect the inalienable human rights of indigenous peoples.
