BURMA: Military intelligence arrests 6 students

Six students were arrested by the Burmese military regime in Rangoon on August 17 and 18. The students attended the Rangoon Institute of Technology and Rangoon University. The first three were believed to have been arrested for their participation in a literary group, while the other three were arrested when one of the students conducted a peaceful solo protest at the capital. The Burmese regime has been accused of human rights abuses against its Karen and Shan ethnic minorities, among other groups.
