BRAZIL: Particular projects for general interests

In a declaration released a week ago, the director of Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA) revealed the proposal of establishing an indigenous territory on Brazils’ frontier with Perú. The demarcation would serve to protect five isolated indigenous groups in that region from loggers. The proposal will be presented at the upcoming meeting of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York.
