As the soya frontier continues to expand, the land that is part of the Xingu reserve is completely devastated. The lives of the indigenous people within the park are in jeopardy due to increased contamination of the rivers by pesticides from soya farming. Members of the National Indian Foundation, FUNAI, are currently monitoring the situation, although they lack the necessary funds to complete a comprehensive study.
