Thirteen indigenous San of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve are being tried this week for hunting in their homelands without an official license, an offence in Botswana punishable by a minimum sentence of five years. The hunters report that they were beaten and tortured by wildlife officers and local police during six days of interrogation in January.
