According to the head of the Belizean office of the United Nations Children’s Education Fund, Maya children living in the southern regions of Toledo and South Stann Creek face great risks to survival. The Belizean government has launched a consultation with the inhabitants of the southern districts in order to reduce economic inequality and promote sustainable development and education.
