The European court of human rights in Strasbourg ruled that the Belgian government violated human rights in deporting 70 Slovak Roma, who were seeking political asylum in 1999. The family who brought the case forward is to receive €19,000 from the government, and other families involved in the deportation are expected to receive the same amount.
