NEW ZEALAND: Government announces eleven hui to discuss foreshore and seabed

In an attempt to gain more Maori perspective on the issue, the government is putting on eleven hui (traditional gatherings) across New Zealand during the month of September. The New Zealand government is seeking feedback on how to allow for the protection of both public access and Maori customary rights. The feedback is based on a proposal released on August 18 by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Maori Affairs Minister.
