Two Kanu members of parliament from Marsabit and Isiolo, Titus Ngoyoni (Laisamis) and Abdul Bahari Ali (Isiolo south), declared their dissatisfaction with the year’s budget as compiled by Finance Minister David Mwiraria. The budget surprised the lawmakers because it neglects promises of development made to the pastoralists living in a number of arid areas of Kenya. While incentives were included in the budget for agriculturists, the East African Standard reports that no benefits were given to the livestock subsector, the backbone of pastoralist economy.
