Water supply was disrupted in Suva when the nearby Delaidogo Reservoir was taken over by aggrieved landowners. The reservoir is on the landowners’ property, but they have yet to receive compensation for its construction. The landowners, members of the Yavusa Nawaidina, are demanding $300,000 from the government for use of their land by the Public Works department. Although the protest at the reservoir ended when the police arrived, there is a meeting scheduled next Wednesday between the landowners and the Native Land Trust Board to discuss the issue further.
