YUKON: University of the Arctic receives increased funding

The Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister presented an additional $250,000 (Cdn.) to the University of the Arctic last week, bringing total funding to three-quarters of a million dollars. The University is “virtual”, connecting students and professors over the Internet in a bid to expand higher education in the traditionally grossly underserved northern regions of the country, home to many aboriginal Canadians.
