WORLD: Database documents language preservation practices

The U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Endangered Language Program recently launched a Register of Good Practices in Language Preservation. The goal of the register is to provide a free online source that documents past and present practices that have protected language communities and prevented linguistic extinction.

UNESCO calls for all language-related projects to contribute to the database. Submissions will be accessible for pubic viewing on UNESCO's website, which receives about 10 million hits per month, thereby increasing public recognition of each organization and collaborating knowledge and experiences of language preservation. Visit the registrar's home page to download a submission form.
