United States: Agreement reached for school on Juaneo sacred site in California

An agreement has at last been reached between city officials and the Juaneo tribe, allowing for a high school athletic complex to be built on tribal sacred ground. The compromise will set a limit on enrollment size, include California Native American history in the school's curriculum, allow for tribal activities near the athletic complex, and ensure that graves will not be disturbed. The school's willingness to comply “is sensitive and meets our goals of preservation and education,” said tribal manager Joyce Stanfield Perry.
