At their second Congress meeting, Basque Summer University members decided to accept the challenge of setting up a unique Basque university, that would build on previously established work. They want the university to be “Basque speaking, one that covers the whole of the Basque country and linked to the people.” Courses would be conducted entirely in Euskera, the Basque language. Debates to define the future role of the institution centered on the role it would play in Basque society.
