Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo announced on July 28th that multilateral lenders have assured him that they will lend Peru’s Camisea gas pipeline project $300 million, although loans are still being examined for final approval. On July 30th the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) voted on lending $75 million towards the project. According to Finance Minister of Peru, Javier Silva Ruete, both the World Bank and the IADB have agreed to sign loans of $600 million for the $2 billion project by the end of the year.
