In its June bulletin, the World Rainforest Movement highlighted the recent strides being made by the Kuna peoples of Panama in developing strategies for eco-tourism ventures in their homeland. They have started to promote an innovative definition of eco-tourism which they describe as “to travel in a responsible way in natural areas, conserving the environment and improving local community welfare". They have their own vision of cultural and nature tourism that preserves their customs and traditional way of life as well as the environment.
